Insurance Defence Lawyer (4-8 Years' Experience)

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a mid-level associate to join our insurance defence team. This role offers flexibility through a hybrid work model, with access to a centrally located office in downtown Toronto.

Your Role

As a lawyer with our firm, you will:

•Take ownership of a diverse litigation portfolio with autonomy and support

•Collaborate with senior counsel on complex and high-stakes matters

•Draft pleadings, motion materials, legal opinions, and arbitration/trial documents

•Conduct EUOs, discoveries, mediations, LAT hearings, arbitrations, pre-trials, and trials

•Strategize and lead settlement negotiations

•Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients

•Contribute to mentoring junior associates and students

•Participate in firm-wide business development initiatives, including client education and industry events

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate brings:

•4 to 8 years of experience in insurance defence litigation

•Strong advocacy and communication skills—both written and oral

•Familiarity with LAT Rules and the Rules of Civil Procedure

•A proven ability to manage files, meet deadlines, and deliver results

•A client-focused mindset and sound judgment in high-pressure environments

•A collaborative spirit and commitment to ongoing learning
